Holy Bibles Holy Words
The ACIM was transcribed in the early 1970’s. It’s dated and gendered and uses a lot of Christian language that frankly, gives me the creeps.
I’m not down on Christianity per se, but it’s got a lot of baggage. All religions that function to separate and divide are mistaken.
The Christian/Catholic church(es) are functioning in a very exclusionary way and not adhering to their own standards of love, forgiveness and generosity. I’m not a fan of any one or any institution claiming to speak for Creator, then judging and condemning.
Creator doesn’t condemn - why would we?
…and why do some Churches hoard so much wealth? It’s gross.
Anyways…
I’ve been reading the gendered language of ACIM with cringe for a few weeks and I decided to come up with my own preferred pronouns and gender neutral language for Divinity.
Behold a New Bible
The whole of Creation is one, so we are able to learn and be taught about it’s holiness (whole-i-ness) through anything - through everything.
I’ve been taught through all kinds of media - books, movies, fiction and non-fiction alike. Blogs and websites, email lists and social media can all teach us about our holiness. No exceptions.
Currently, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer is the Holy Bible I’ve been waiting for. She is giving voice to a world that my soul has been crying out for since I was a child. I am grateful for her Presence and for her Truth.
She is a Prophet of Creator and I love her.
In partnership with Beloved Presence, we decide what holy books impact us and offer us the next nugget of truth that leads us onward in our quest for Wholiness.
Every encounter is a holy encounter.
Every encounter is a holy encounter - including the media and stories we consume. They are all speaking from a particular perspective of the unity of life. That’s all that we are ever doing - communicating our current level of understanding about the unity of life.
We are only ever communicating what we know of our Wholeness.
Behold the Holy Words
Instead of He / Him / His as Divine Male, I use:
They / Them / Their (Divine Neutral)
Instead of Father as Divine Male Head of Family, I use:
Creator (Divine Neutral Head of Everything)
Instead of Son as Divine Male Heir, I use:
Child or Descendant (Divine Neutral Heir)
Instead of Sonship as Divine Male Heir Collective, I use:
Descendants or Kinship or Children (Divine Neutral Heir Collective)
Instead of Kingdom as Divine Male Whole, I use:
Kin-dom (Divine Neutral Whole)
Words Matter
Words are only symbols pointing to the truth.
Until we are all united together in the Mind of Creator and are able to consciously communicate mind to mind, we have to deal with words and get their meanings correct.
Using all male pronouns for everything is a great way of excluding half the population and reinforcing the patriarchy. Substituting female pronouns is the same error, it is not a correction.
Making a choice to use language that is loving and inclusive is the goal to which I strive, but will fail at repeatedly. I often say “guys” when I mean everyone.
It’s telling that our default terminology for the collective is male. It’s not an indication of value but the lingering foundations of misogyny and exclusion upon which our society was built.
This is some divisive shit and I’m not playing anymore.
